Monkeywear was started by two moms - Jen and Lesley.
Fortunate to spend our first maternity leave together, we spent many days out with our girls. We didn't know what we wanted or needed in a baby carrier 6 years ago and simply used the ones we were given, not realizing what we were missing.
By the time our second babies arrived, we began borrowing different types of hand-crafted carriers and even purchasing and returning more than one structured carrier.
We soon knew what we wanted and needed but couldn't find it for sale in Canada.
We decided to develop a wrap carrier to hold our little monkeys. Taking the best features of the many carriers we had tried into consideration and adding our own ideas, we applied them to the basic wrap carrier that has been used for centuries around the world......and monkeywrap was created.
Interest grew as people saw us wrapping and wearing our babies while walking with our toddlers. We decided we had to offer the monkeywrap to other parents, to help them make their busy lives a bit easier and more comfortable while bonding and staying close to their new babies.
