Take the time to learn about babywearing from our website and other sources (see links to some great sites on our About Babywearing page)
Practice tying the Monkeywrap® and placing a doll in it so that you get a feel for how to position them comfortably. It can help you if you do this in front of a mirror.
If baby isn't interested in going into the Monkeywrap®, don't push it at that moment. Give it a few minutes and see if the mood changes.
If babywearing is new to you, it is new to baby too and may take a few tries for you and baby to feel comfortable.
It is instinctive to support your baby with your hand(s) while you get used to carrying baby in your Monkeywrap®. As you become more comfortable, you will do this less and have your hands free more often.
Use one of the shoulder bands of the Monkeywrap® to support baby's head, positioning their head for them to ensure a clear airway. It will support baby's delicate neck by holding their head to you as you wear baby.
When using newborn/nursing hold ensure baby is in an upright reclined position and baby's airway is open. See more here
Always remember to bend at the knees when you bend over and support baby's head/neck, as opposed to bending at the waist.
Walk with your arms as barriers so that you don't bump baby into door jams, etc.
DO NOT wear baby while in the kitchen preparing food. Do not risk working with or near sharp or hot objects.
DO NOT eat or drink hot foods/beverages that could spill on baby.
