Used in hospital NICUs

Newborn babies are so precious

Everyone wishes and hopes for a full-term pregnancy and safe delivery of their baby. Whether you deliver your baby at a hospital or with a doula or midwife, we all want the same outcome - a healthy baby.

For the times when that dosen't happen, the Doctors and Nurses at our hospitals take over and care for our tiny premature and special needs babies until they are strong enough to go home. When a little baby must stay at one of our country's hospitals to grow stronger, gain weight, or have a life-saving operation, it is so difficult for the baby and the family.

About our program

Our hospital program is our way of giving back to Canadian families and those who care for them in hospital, in a way that feels right for us. We provide interested hospitals with a set of Monkeywraps for use in their NICU or Special Nursery.

Our Monkeywraps help support premature and special needs babies during their fight to survive in those early days and weeks. Both the nurses that care for the babies around the clock and their families use the Monkeywraps for Kangaroo Care, keeping those precious little ones close to their hearts as much as possible, where they thrive and grow strong enough to go home.

If you are interested in hearing more about the program and how the NICU at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto introduced them to their staff and patients, please contact us info@monkeywear.ca

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Our most recent Hospital to join the program, Sunnybrook has embraced the use of the Monkeywraps with their premature babies and do so as often as they can. Once babies are off the life-supporting systems, parents and nurses can wear the babies to continue kangaroo care almost around the clock.

Lakeridge Health Oshawa Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Monkeywear® was happy to donate Monkeywraps® to Lakeridge Health Oshawa's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for use when caring for newborns. The nurses that use them are doing so primarily to provide Kangaroo Care to special needs newborns.

The Breastfeeding Clinic at Lakeridge Health Oshawa also uses the Monkeywraps® to assist mothers in establishing breastfeeding as well.

Peterborough Regional Health Centre - Special Care Nursery and Breastfeeding Clinic

The Special Care Nursery at Peterborough Regional Health Centre is a Level 2 nursery that provides specialized nursing care, including babies who are born as much as eight weeks early. Monkeywear® recently presented the staff of the Special Nursery with a set of Monkeywraps so that staff and families can wear the newborn while they at the hospital, further enhancing the care given to and received by the premature and special needs babies at PRHC.

The Breastfeeding clinic at PRHC will also be using the Monkeywraps to assist new mothers as they establish breastfeeding with their newborns.

If you are a buyer for a hospital gift shop, please contact us by completing the form located here and we will contact you to discuss your shop and how best to merchandise the Monkeywrap for your customers.
